Solid Front Axle 3rd Gen 4runner. As an example of what was towed, the first gen weighs roughly 4000lbs (curb). Anyone have a rock crawler or solid axle 5th gen 4runner?
It's a perfect size vehicle to build upon and has been super reliable with it's engine and transmission choices. Tacoma axle uses the same brakes and third member as previous pickup axle, somewhere during tacoma production the rear axle changed from 58 1/2 to 60. Just because a vehicle can tow more, that doesn’t mean it should, especially with older vehicles (and the 3rd gen is known to have weak braking systems to start with).

5/8 with a 1/4 mounting surface on the 4runner. Very capable machine, looking for trades or just for sale. Cost/benefit is kind of a weird bit of math for offroaders.
